Organizational Development & Process Excellence – Group HR

Hiske has a background in Human Resources (HR) and before joining Norfolkline she worked as HR Manager in a medium sized Dutch company for nearly 3 years, having joined that company on graduating with her Masters Degree in Human Resources.

Hiske joined Norfolkline in August 2008 in Group HR, but this was not the role that she applied for at first:

"The 3 items that attracted me the most about Norfolkline were working in a large organization (2200 employees), working in an international environment (30 offices in 14 European countries) and working in an HR team.
I originally applied for an international traineeship opportunity in HR and was already onboard and ready to start, when the decision was made on an A.P. Moller Maersk Group level not to continue with that particular program.
So instead I started in a role in Group HR were I am now responsible for several Norfolkline wide HR projects and for coordinating the traineeship programs."

Hiske has experienced that Norfolkline offers many opportunities for self-development and that there is a clear focus on people in the organization:

"Being flexible and open to new opportunities already allowed me such extensive learning opportunities in the short 1 year that I am with Norfolkline now.
I am based in the head office in Scheveningen, but being responsible for organizational development (and for example hosting induction seminars for newly joined employees) allows me to work from different locations and learn a lot about the work approach of different cultures, and also how Norfolkline works as a business.
One of the values in Norfolkline is ‘Our People’ and you can clearly notice this in the day to day work. There is an informal supportive culture, were people are very approachable and open to improvements. Also there is a clear focus on individual development linked to career path aspirations.
I made the right decision in joining Norfolkline. I instantly enjoyed working for Norfolkline when I started, I still do, and I am looking forward to being part of this organization for a long period to come!
It is a tremendous learning opportunity and I enjoy every single day at work with a great set of colleagues."
